ZAMBOANGA CITY, (PNA) -– Local Government Sec. Manuel Roxas II disclosed Friday that the captured Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) rebels “that are awaiting processing” will be detained at the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm located in Barangay Talisayan, 26 kilometers west of City Hall.
Roxas said they have already coordinated with Department of Justice (DOJ) Sec. Leila De Lima for the transfer of the 94 captured and surrendered MNLF rebels to the penal farm, which is under the administration of the justice department.
Roxas said that an arrangement is being made to transfer the minimum-risk prisoners from the penal farm to another detention facility to be able to accommodate the 94 rebels.
The 94 MNLF rebels are presently detained at the local police headquarters which is located just at the back of the government-run waterfront public market.
“Itong facility na ito ay sapat lamang sa pangkaraniwang mga nahuhuli sa ordinary crime dito sa Zamboanga City,” Roxas said in an interview at the local police headquarters.
He said that policemen will be deployed to guard the 94 rebels once they will be transferred to the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm.
He said they will be transferred to the penal farm any time.
