MANILA, (PNA) — The National Food Authority (NFA) has released 33,000 bags of rice to augment the rice stocks in the Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi (BASULTA) provinces.
Out of the 33,000 bags, the NFA has issued 15,000 bags to Basilan, 16,000 bags to Sulu and 2,000 bags to Tawi-tawi, spokesperson Rex Estoperez said in an interview with the PNA Friday.
The current rice inventory of the NFA in the BASULTA area stands at 26,405 bags of rice which are broken down into the following: Basilan – 10,405; Sulu – 2,000 and Tawi-Tawi – 14,000, according to latest records of the agency.
With the influx of additional rice stocks, inventory is expected to reach 59,405 bags exceeding the daily consumption requirement of 10,178.
Data from the agency also show that as of Sept. 16, the inventory in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) is at 155,399 beyond the daily requirement at 29,841.
