8 awards for ABS-CBN

PNS — ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation won eight awards and two special citations for its outstanding television and radio programs at the 2007 Catholic Mass Media Awards, making it the most CMMA-awarded media company this year.

The Kapamilya Network bagged five awards for television in different fields like comedy, entertainment, talk, and news. These are “ Sharon ” for Best Entertainment Program, “Goin Bulilit” for Best Comedy Program, “Sa Kambas ng Lipunan” for Best TV Special, “Media in Focus” for Best Talk Show, and “The Correspondents” for Best News Magazine, which tied with “ Kapuso Mo , Jessica Soho.”

Its AM radio station, DZMM Radyo Patrol Sais Trenta, emerged victorious in the radio category by winning the most awards, namely “Radyo Patrol Alas Onse Y Media”for Best News Program, “Maala-ala Mo Kaya sa DZMM” for Best Drama Program, and “Radyo Negosyo” for Best Business Program or Feature.

Latest results from Nielsen Research show DZMM as the leading AM radio station in Mega Manila for the third quarter this year with an audience share of 8.7 vs. its competitor’s 4.5.

ABS-CBN earned two special citations for TV. These are “Amiga” for Best Business Program/Feature and “Super Inggo” for Best Drama Series/Program.

Earlier, ABS-CBN got four nominations at the Asian Television Awards, which will be held in Singapore this month. It made history by bagging the first ever International Emmy nomination for Best News. Two DzMM programs bested 50 entries worldwide to become finalists at the ongoing 2007 Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union Awards.
