CEBU CITY, (PNA) — Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma Friday said Archbishop Emeritus Ricardo Cardinal Vidal is out of danger.
But Vidal, 82, is still confined in the hospital even if his vital signs have improved, he said.
Palma said Vidal’s speech was temporarily slurred and his face was distorted.
Vidal was rushed to the Pepertual Succour Hospital in Cebu City Tuesday for treatment and has since recovered, he said.
“Let us not project this as a cause of panic or concern,” he added.
Vidal’s secretary Fr. Joseph de Aquino told reporters doctors said Vidal suffered from a minor stroke or transient ischemic attack.
Vidal underwent a CT scan, blood tests and all were normal, according to de Aquino.
“He was treated for the stroke and is being closely monitored by doctors in an ICU (Intensive Care Unit) setup. But he is out of danger,” he said.
