DAVAO CITY, (PNA) — The management of SM City Davao said it has responded to the directive of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte to beef up security measures at the mall.
According to SM City Davao, they have increased the number of security personnel in the entire mall particularly in its movie houses.
Efforts are also being worked out in upgrading their Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras inside movie houses and in the mall’s vicinities to high definition.
The mall will also conduct further orientation of security guards on detecting improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and stringent inspections on mall goers.
SM City Davao, made the move after Duterte on Tuesday reprimanded it and Gaisano Mall of Davao to put in place adequate security measures particularly on movie houses otherwise, he will order them to shutdown.
Duterte’s stand came following the bombings of Cinema 1 of SM City Davao and Cinema 5 of Gaisano Mall. The twin bombings left five people suffering from instant severe deafness.
Duterte made the directive as he lashed out at the two malls for their lax security policies.
