Ex-PSC commissioner to grace Inter-Club Karatedo Championship

DAVAO CITY (PNA) -– Former Philippine Sports Commission Commissioner Leon “Binggoy” Montemayor will be the guest of honor in the coming 2013 AAK Inter-Club Karatedo Age-Group and Seniors Championships set on Sept. 28 at the 5th floor of the Gaisano Grand Citimall here.

“Sir Binggoy has confirmed already that he is coming,” said Rommel Tan, branch chief of the organizing Association for the Advancement of Karatedo Davao.

Also invited are officials and members of the newly-formed Davao City Sports Consumer Cooperative led by its chairman Salvador “Jun” Paholio Jr.

The teams expected to see action are the Shorin Chi, Comatcom, SSKC of Bukidnon, RDWCE Karatedo of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, Cagayan de Oro, Magsaysay Polytechnic College of General Santos City, Notre Dame GenSan, Panabo Traditional, Tagum and host AAK Davao.

The one-day event is sponsored by TKS Petron, Beefit Gym and Aerobics and AAK Davao parents.

The categories are the boy and girl’s Kata and Kumite for 6-7 yrs. old,8-9 yrs. old, 10-11 yrs. old, 12-13 yrs. old, 14-15 yrs. old, 16-17 yrs. Old; Seniors’ category – Above 18, -60 kgs., -70 kgs. And open weight and Kata for Men; – 55 kgs., – 60 kgs., and openweight and kata for women.

“Medals and certificates will be given to the winners,” Tan said.

The event is also a tune-up for the AAK Davao team to the Adidas International Cup set in Manila in November as also our post-Kadayawan event.
