DAGUPAN CITY, (PNA) — The Muslim community here expressed dismay over what they called the unwarranted action taken by a faction of Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) under Nur Misuari in Zamboanga City.
Mangontawar “Milan” Sultan, leader of the Samahan ng mga Muslim sa Dagupan, said his group disagrees with what the MNLF has done which caused casualties — dead and wounded.
“Civilians who are our brother Muslims are being affected in this standoff,” said Sultan.
“We believe that chaos is not the solution to their plea. Problems and differences should be settled by peace talks”.
Sultan admitted that the clash every now and then between the soldiers and the rebels across the years had compelled most of the Muslims to migrate from Mindanao to Luzon.
“We have decided to leave Lanao which is our homeland and live here in Dagupan so we could continue with our lives”, he said.
