CAIRO, (PNA/Xinhua) — The Egyptian government decided on Thursday to shorten the curfew imposed in 14 governorates by two hours on weekdays and one hour on Fridays, state-run Ahram online reported.
Starting from Saturday, the curfew starts at 12 a.m. (2200 GMT) instead of 11 p.m. (2100 GMT), and lasts until 5 a.m. (0300 GMT) instead of 6 a.m. (0400 GMT); but on Fridays, the curfew remains to start at 7 p.m. (1700 GMT) but ends one hour earlier at 05:00 a.m. (0300 GMT), the report said.
Egypt began to implement the curfew on Aug. 14 as part of a state of emergency declared in light of the turmoil that followed a dispersal operation against two sit-in camps supporting ousted President Mohamed Morsi.
