MANILA, (PNA) — The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) on Thursday filed before the Department of Justice (DOJ) an P18.4-million tax evasion case against a Caloocan City businessman.
Charged was Lamberto T. Obogne, sole proprietor of Bentoy Electrical Rewinding Shop and Bertmond Enterprises, both located in Novaliches, Caloocan City.
In a press conference, BIR Commissioner Kim S. Jacinto-Henares said they charged Obogne for willful attempt to evade or defeat tax and deliberate failure to supply correct and accurate information in his Income Tax Return for taxable years 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
Obogne earned P40.47 million from 2009 to 2012.
However, he only declared in his ITR for the said years P9.96 million, thus, substantially underdeclaring his income by P30.51 million.
Henares said Obogne was assessed a tax deficiency of P18.4 million, inclusive of surcharges and interests.
