2 persons held over hot narra flitches in Nueva Ecija

Posted on September 18, 2013

SAN JOSE CITY, Nueva Ecija, (PNA) — Operatives from the Nueva Ecija Police Office’s Provincial Public Safety Company (NEPPO-PPSC) arrested two residents from Cavite for allegedly transporting 35 pieces of undocumented narra flitches along Maharlika road here before dawn Wednesday.

Supt. Ricardo Villanueva, PPSC chief, identified the suspects as Joey Maranan,37, married of Sitio Talisayan, Barangay Sampaloc IV Dasmariñas and Richard Eric Abrio,44, of Barangay Buenavista 3, General Trias, both in Cavite.

Villanueva said the suspects were apprehended by PPSC operatives, headed by Senior Inspector Alexander Reyes in an anti-criminality checkpoint in Barangay Tayabo, this city at about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.

“The troops manning the checkpoint signaled an incoming van with plate no. UUO-868 for plain view inspection. But operatives “saw inside the van narra flitches which turned out to be not covered by any permit from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources,” he said.

This, he said, prompted the lawmen to call the attention of the Environment officials.

The DENR which conducted the scaling said the hot lumber measure 329.6 board feet with an estimated value of P32,960.

Charges of violation of Presidential Decree 705 were being prepared against the suspects as the confiscated van and lumber were impounded at the community environment and natural resources office compound in Science City of Muñoz.
