BUDAPEST, (PNA/Xinhua) — The Russians were the guys to beat on Day 2 of the World Wrestling Championships on Tuesday, walking away with gold in two of the three freestyle contests.
Russia’s Bekhan Goigereev won the 60 kg category and his countryman Khadzhimurat Gatsalov brought home the gold in the 120 kg with odd man Ukrainian Ibragim Aldatov winning at 84 kg.
Goigereev beat Bulgarian Vladimir Dubov in the 60 kg final with Barjang Barjang of India and Masoud Esmaeilpoorjouybari of Iran taking bronze.
In the 84 kg meet, Aldatov beat Cuba’s Reineris Salas Perez who took silver.
Bronze medals went to Istvan Veres of Hungary and Ehsan Lashgari of Iran.
The 120 kg contest ended with Gatsalov’s victory over silver medalist Alen Zasieiev from Ukraine.
Geno Petriashvili of Georgia and Taha Akgul won bronze.
The competition continues Wednesday with the 74 kg freestyle and the 48-51 kg women’s contest.
