Pacquiao training on schedule — Koncz

Posted on September 18, 2013

By Eddie G. Alinea

GENERAL SANTOS CITY, (PNA) -– Business manager Michael Koncz said Wednesday that Manny Pacquiao’s 10-week training is currently doing well and on schedule for his upcoming Nov. 24 fight with Brandon Rios in Macau.

“The camp is doing fine,” Koncz said. “Everything is going on schedule. I think we would easily get what we aim for in the next weeks here in GenSan.”

Koncz said he is very happy with what Manny is currently showing including power on both hands at the mitts.

“In fact, we all should be very happy,” Koncz said, adding that with the way the camp is going, the former top pound-for-pound champion would be ready to spar not later than next week.

“Yeah, Freddie (chief trainer Roach) would be coming first week of next month bringing with him at least one sparring partner from Korea and one from Ghana, whose names I can’t remember.” he bared.

Pacquiao attributed his gains to his almost three weeks of sporadic training session here and in Manila.

Pacquiao displayed tremendous speed and punching power that saw assistant trainer Nonoy Neri replacing fellow assistant trainer Buboy Fernandez in doing the mitts in Day 2 Tuesday at the Pacman Wild Card Gym here.

A handful of spectators admitted in a close door training session gave Pacquiao a warm ovation following a very impressive three-hour workout.
