MANILA, (PNA) — The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said the death toll as of 4 p.m. Tuesday for the nine-day Zamboanga City stand-off between government forces and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) has now reached 90.
Major Angelo Guzman, AFP deputy public affairs office chief, said this can be broken down into:
– AFP: 8 killed, 100 wounded
– PNP: 3 killed, 12 wounded
– Civilians:7 killed, 39 wounded
– RME (MNLF):72 killed, 9 wounded and 67 surrendered and captured.
Guzman said that around 150 hostages were rescued by government security forces with another 14 escaping their captors.
