MANILA, (PNA) — Region 9 police spokesman, Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca on Tuesday have yet to confirm the reports that the police chief of Zamboanga City has been taken hostage by the Suspected Moro National Liberation Front members, hours after government forces recovered more than 100 hostages from the secessionist group.
“Hindi ko po ma-confirm nor deny pinapa confirm ko pa sa city police,” Huesca said in a phone interview.
Ask if it’s too far from his area he answered “hindi ko din masabi. Wala pang official report”.
Asked if the report on the abduction involved Senior Superintendent Chiquito Malayo, Huesca refused to give a statement, saying that there isn’t any official report yet.
Only hours earlier, government troops managed to rescue more than 100 civilian hostages from the MNLF, which started a standoff with the government Sept. 9.
