SINGAPORE, (PNA/Xinhua) — Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam is scheduled to make an official visit to Canada’s Ottawa from Monday to Thursday, the city-state’s Ministry of Forein Affairs said on Monday.
This will be the foreign minister’s first official visit to Canada.
The ministry said the minister’s visit takes place during Singapore’s term as the country coordinator for the ASEAN-Canada Dialogue Relations from July 2012 to July 2015.
“It also coincides with Canada’s chairmanship of the Arctic Council, which Singapore was admitted to recently as an observer,” the foreign ministry said in a statement.
Shanmugam is being hosted by his Canadian counterpart, John Baird. He will also meet Canadian senator Victor Oh, as well as the President of the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency and the Chair of the Arctic Council’s Senior Arctic Officials Patrick Borbey.
