Habagat brings rains over Luzon, Visayas

Posted on September 15, 2013

MANILA, (PNA)–Due to southwest monsoon or “habagat”, most of Luzon including Metro Manila will experience cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms in the next two to three days, the state weather agency said Sunday.

Visayas and the rest of Luzon will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said the southwest monsoon affecting Southern Luzon and Visayas will be enhanced by a tropical storm “Man-Yi” (international name) which is located near southern Japan. He said “Man-Yi” is not expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Aurelio said that due to southwest monsoon, Metro Manila, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), and the provinces of Mindoro, Romblon, Marinduque, Bataan and Bulacan will experience cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms which may trigger flash floods and landslides while Visayas and the rest of Luzon will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Aurelio also said the weather bureau is also monitoring a cloud cluster in Philippine Sea that may develop into low pressure area in the coming days.

He added that in the next two to three days or until Tuesday most parts of the country except Mindanao will be cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers. Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
