DAVAO CITY, (PNA) — Consistent with its mandate of promoting good governance and transparency in public service, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will hold its first-ever State of the Region Address (SORA) on Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. at the Almendras Gymnasium along Quimpo Boulevard here.
Over 2,500 participants region-wide are expected to witness the SORA including partners from the local government units, national-line agencies, civil society organizations, media, academe, private sector, international humanitarian groups, among others.
The SORA will inform program partners and key stakeholders about the current programs of the DSWD, including program gains, challenges and successes.
The activity will also highlight the partnerships the department has fostered over the years.
Furthermore, it will showcase the convergence strategy as DSWD’s core social protection strategy in generating greater impact on poverty reduction.
Moreover, DSWD will turnover checks to local government units and beneficiaries worth P24.2-million to cover program implementation of Supplementary Feeding, Sustainable Livelihood, Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens and for projects identified under the Bottom-Up Budgeting.
DSWD will also handover Early Childhood Care and Development packages and aid devices like wheel chairs, crutches, cane and prostheses.
