CALBAYOG CITY, Samar, (PNA) — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) recently launched its shared service facilities (SSF) project in this city, partnering for the first time with a fisherfolk association of Binaliw village.
DTI provided for the “Samahang Mangingisda ng Binaliw” (SMB) equipment for their bottled sardines and pickled seaweeds processing with the intention of upgrading their production capacity and meet volume orders.
The equipment included two units each of 60-bottle capacity heavy aluminum LPG fueled pressure cooker, heavy duty single burner and stainless tables and one unit each of 70-kilo capacity LPG-operated cabinet-type multipurpose dryer and 224-bottle capacity heavy duty automatic four-layer stainless steamer
Fideleo Tuyco, the SMB President, expressed his overwhelming appreciation to the continuing and massive support they are receiving from concerned agencies throughout this time.
This, according to Tuyco is really helping them keep their spirits up and remain inspired.
Samar Provincial Fisheries Officer Engr. Rolando Ay-ay referred the group to DTI.
DTI regional director Cynthia Nierras graced the event and personally extended her congratulations to the group for qualifying as SSF cooperators.
Also present during the ceremony were city mayor Ronaldo P. Aquino, Samar provincial board members Charlito Conejos and Alan Diomangay and representatives of various partner agencies.
The project launching and turn-over of equipment also marked the starting point of the project implementation.
The DTI family also expected the usual support of the Calbayognons for the development of said industry.
