WASHINGTON, (PNA/Itar-Tass) — Republican Senators John McCain of Arizona and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina have expressed skepticism over Saturday’s U.S.-Russian agreement on removing chemical weapons from Syria.
“Assad will use the months and months affordable to him to delay and deceive the world,” McCain and graham said in a joint statement.
Senators McCain and Graham have described the U.S.-Russian framework agreement as “the start of a diplomatic blind alley”, into which the Obama administration was being led by Moscow and Damascus.
“This agreement does nothing to resolve the real problem in Syria,” the two senators said. They recommended the Obama administration to supply more weapons to moderate opposition groups.
