MANILA, (PNA) — Due to enhanced tropical storm outside the country, the Southwest monsoon or hangin Habagat will continue to bring light to moderate rains over Luzon and Visayas in the next 24 hours, the state weather bureau said on Sunday.
Weather Forecaster Buddy Javier said that tropical storm Man-Yi (international name) near southern Japan continues to enhance the southwest monsoon affecting southern Luzon and Visayas.
Javier said the agency issued yellow warning advisory at 2:55 p.m. affecting Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, Bulacan, Pampanga, Bataan, Zambales, Occidental Mindoro, Tarlac and portions of Batangas, Quezon, and Nueva Ecija experience a moderate to occasional heavy rainfall.
Until Monday, except for Mindanao, Javier said that Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon and Mimaropa will experience cloudy skies with moderate to heavy rains and thunderstorms which may trigger flashfloods and landslides while the rest of Luzon and Visayas will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms.
He added that Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the low pressure area as of 4 p.m. was spotted at 1,010 km East of Luzon (15.2°N,132.0°E).
Javirr said this LPA has already inside the country and has a higher chance of becoming a tropical depression since “it is still in the Philippine sea, where it could pick up more moisture.”
However, he said this weather system is still not affecting any part of the country and also not expected to develop into tropical cyclone within the next 24 to 48 hours.
In its advisory, PAGASA said that moderate to strong winds blowing from the Southwest will prevail over the Western sections of Central and Southern Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the southwest to south with slight to moderate seas.
