MANILA, (PNA) — Vice President Jejomar Binay late Friday night announced that a ceasefire between the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and members of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) will take place midnight.
He made this announcement during an interview in GMA-7’s Saksi.
Binay said that this was the word given to him by Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin and MNLF founding chair Nur Misuari.
He added that he will be flying to Zamboanga City Saturday to help in the peace arrangements.
The ceasefire effectively ended five days of fighting which left scores of people dead and wounded.
