DoTC invites bidders for construction of 33 lighthouses nationwide

Posted on September 14, 2013

MANILA, (PNA) — The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) is inviting qualified contractors to join in the bidding for the P 97.65-million construction of 33 lighthouse structures in the different parts of the country.

According to the DoTC Bids and Awards Committee, these lighthouses will be put up in the coastal towns of Buguey, Cagayan; Aurora, Catanduanes, Bataan, Bulacan, Batangas, Rizal, Palawan, Camarines Sur, Bohol, Siquijor, Eastern Samar, Davao, and Surigao del Sur.

“Once installed, the lighthouses will enhance the safety of navigation in the country, as these serve as additional guide and reference to fishing boats, domestic vessels, and eve international vessels transiting Philippine waters,” the DoTC said.

The DoTC will be having three types of lighthouses depending on the area. These are 18-meter Concrete Lighthouse Structure with perimeter fence, 12-meter Concrete Lighthouse with perimeter fence, and 10-meter Pole Beam Type Special Tower with perimeter fence.

Interested bidders may purchase the non-refundable bid documents from the Philippine Coast Guard cashier or download the same free of charge from the website of Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System (PhilGesps) and the websites of the DoTC and PCG provided the bidders pay the corresponding fees.

Bidders are requested to contact the DoTC or the PCG offices for more details.

The PCG is an attached agency under the DoTC.
