SUVA, (PNA/Xinhua) — Fiji has established diplomatic ties with Guatemala, the Fijian government announced Saturday.
At the Fiji Mission to the United Nations in New York, the United States on Friday local time, Permanent Representative of Guatemala to the United Nations, Ambassador Gert Rosenthal and his Fijian counterpart, Ambassador Peter Thomson, signed a joint communique establishing diplomatic relations between the two states.
According to the Ministry of Information, the communique expresses the desire between Fiji and Guatemala to establish their diplomatic relations on the basis of the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations at non-resident ambassadorial level, guided by the principles and purposes of the United Nations Charter and international law.
