TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte, (PNA) — The Department of Tourism (DOT XI) expects the tourism industry in Tagum City to become more vibrant with the launch on Sept. 19 of the “Destination Mindanao Tour Program.”
“This will consist of a multi-tour program with Tagum City as hub and bound for various tourist attractions in Mindanao,” DOT XI Regional Director Art Boncato said.
Boncato said Davao Metro Shuttle approached the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) and DOT XI to get support for the tourism destination program they are planning.
Tagum City Mayor Allan Rellon said tourists will soon have more reasons to visit the city and to stay longer.
He said budget allocation for the Botanical Garden in Barangay San Agustin will be completed soon and this will pave the way for more improvements in the garden including the planting of more trees from different parts of the world, construction of a grotto and a gazebo.
“This is an ideal destination for those who want to be with nature since it is easily accessible from the city center with concreted four-kilometer road from the national highway to the Garden,” he said.
Meanwhile, Rellon said they will be more active in promoting the River Cruise which is a 45-minute cruise of the Liboganon River to Punong Restaurant.
“But we have to plant more mangroves there,” he added.
