BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, (PNA) — Officials of the Department of Agriculture (DA) said on-going projects are being implemented in various towns here to boost the production and marketing of organic products in the province.
“Even before the launching of products through organic farming, our agency has already put in place support structures to help farmers in marketing and promoting their products,” said Paul Vincent Balao, DA’s focal person on organic farming.
Balao made the statement during the recent launching of the Vizcaya Fresh, a branded organic agricultural product of farmers in the province.
He said that the construction of three DA-funded Organic Trading Posts (OTPs) is now on-going in the towns of Kayapa, Diadi and Bayombong.
The OTPs will serve as marketing and promotion venue for organic agriculture products of farmers in the province, he added.
Aside from these structures, Balao said they have also organized 15 local technical committees and 1 provincial committee to craft programs and projects for organic agriculture in their respective areas.
“We are also assisting farmers in Nueva Vizcaya in certifying their organic products such as seeds of rice, vegetable and corn,” he added.
