MANILA, (PNA) — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) disclosed that nothing untoward has transpired during the anti-pork barrel fund interfaith rally which was held at the EDSA Shrine Wednesday.
Chief Supt. Marcelo Garbo, NCRPO chief, said the protest action was generally peaceful except for the incident wheremembers of the militant group, Bayan, tried to barge at the EDSA Shrine around 3: 28 p.m.
The militant group was prevented from entering the area by police officers deployed in the scene. Their placards and other signages were also confiscated by police.
This resulted in a scuffle where Mandaluyong City police head, Senior Supt. Florendo Quibuyen, was kicked.
The items were seized as placards and streamers are not allowed in the interfaith rally, Garbo said.
The NCRPO chief said a total of 1,200 people attended the event which ended around 4 p.m.
