De Lima to attend Thursday’s Senate probe on pork barrel scam

MANILA, (PNA) — Justice Secretary Leila de Lima will be joining Thursday’s Senate probe on the pork barrel scam, the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee announced on Wednesday.

She will be the second Cabinet secretary and second Interagency Anti-Graft Coordinating Council (IAAGCC) head to attend the hearing.

Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala was the first Cabinet secretary to attend the hearing while Commission on Audit Chairperson Grace Pulido-Tan was the first IAAGCC head.

De Lima together with Tan and Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales make up the IAAGCC, which looks into the pork barrel scam.

On Last Thursday’s senate probe, the Blue Ribbon Committee asked heads of both the National Agribusiness Corporation (NABCOR) and Zamboanga Rubber Estate Corporation (ZREC) to present documents on the transfer of funds done by lawmakers.

Aside from De Lima, the Blue Ribbon committee released the following list of witnesses/resource persons for the third hearing on the pork barrel scam:

*Lawyer Martin Meñez (Department of Justice)

*State Counsel Wilberto Tolitol (Department of Justice)

*Director Carmencita Delantar (Department of Budget and Management)

*Assistant Secretary Alan Umali (Head, Zamboanga Rubber Estate Corporation or ZREC)

*Director Susan Garcia (Commission on Audit)

*Assistant Secretary Salvador Salacup (former ZREC head, 2007-2009)

*Honesto Baniqued (President, National Agribusiness Corporation or NABCOR)

*Alan Javellana (Former NABCOR president, 2007-2009)

*Gondelina Amata (President, National Livelihood Development Corp or NLDC)

*Dennis Cunanan (Director General of Technology Resource Center or TRC)

*Antonio Ortiz (Former TRC director general)
