DILG, Calbayog City sign agreement for enhanced Business Permits and Licensing System

Posted on September 11, 2013

CALBAYOG CITY, Samar, (PNA) — The city government of Calbayog and the Dept. of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in the region recently signed an agreement to enhance the Business Permits and Licensing System (BPLS) of this local government unit.

Under the program, the level of competitiveness of a local government unit is measured and evaluated using the criteria/parameters employed by the National Competitiveness Council.

DILG regional director Pedro Noval Jr said that Calbayog is one of cities they identified to have the capability to successfully implement the program.

Noval also expressed his appreciation to the city officials of Calbayog led by Mayor Ronaldo P. Aquino for participating and embracing the program that he further said will surely make “the beautiful Calbayog City a business-friendly city”.

Meanwhile, Aquino underscored that the city has been implementing the system since he assumed office.

He said that this is a very helpful tool for the city government to facilitate the progress in securing business permits and licenses.

He also mentioned the city’s being an investor-friendly already with the passing of an ordinance on Investment Code to attract more investors as a proof to it.

The city now, he added, is already harvesting its fruits.

The creation of two teams – the Simplification Management Team and the Simplification Project team – followed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing. These teams will guide the city’s implementation of an enhanced BPLS that took off with an orientation.

The signing of the MOA between Mayor Aquino and Noval was witnessed by members of the Sangguniang Panglungsod led by City Vice-Mayor Diego Rivera and members of the Greater Calbayog Chamber of Commerce.
