MANILA, (PNA) –- The Philippine peso appreciated against the US dollar along with other Asian currencies on Wednesday, boosted by better risk appetite amid receding threat of Syrian strike.
The local unit closed higher at 43.79 from previous day’s 43.83.
A trader noted that more investors showed a renewed appetite for risk.
This, after Syria agreed to Russia’s proposal that it would hand over its chemical weapons under international control to avoid US air strikes.
In Wednesday’s trading, volume was lower at $ 776.27 million from day-ago’s $ 937.20 million.
