CAIRO, (PNA/Kyodo) — One Japanese woman was killed and another was in critical condition after they were stabbed in a knife attack near Zemi Valley in Cappadocia in central Turkey on Monday, the Japanese Embassy in Turkey said.
Mai Kurihara, 22, died, while the other woman, also 22, is unconscious and being treated in intensive care at a hospital, according to the embassy. They were taking a walk together when the attack occurred.
The two seniors of Niigata University in central Japan left for Turkey last Friday and were scheduled to return home on Sept. 19, according to the father of the one in critical condition. They had traveled to South Korea together in the past.
