MIDSAYAP, North Cotabato, (PNA) — North Cotabato Governor Emmylou Mendoza ordered the dispersal of about 148 livestock to residents of Barangay Poblacion 2 here on Monday.
It was the fourth village of Midsayap that benefited the province’s animal dispersal program this year.
Dr. Rufino Suropia, provincial veterinarian, led the distribution of goats and swine in Barangay Poblacion 2’s covered court.
The animal dispersal was in response to the clamor of farmers, specifically small range farmers who are not capable of purchasing live stocks as a means of livelihood.
Ninety-three goats and 55 swine were distributed at Poblacion 2 farmers.
Mendoza initiated the program to help uplift the lives of every Cotabateño and to provide them motivation to strive hard in order to become productive.
Under the animal dispersal program, beneficiaries have to turn over to the provincial veterinary office the first offspring of their livestock to multiple the distribution program.
Sorupia assured that the animals were properly screened to guarantee that all are free from diseases.
Another batch will receive large animals next week, Suropia said.
