WASHINGTON, (PNA/Itar-Tass) -– The United States has no intentions of launching a drawn-out campaign with missile and bomb strikes, such as those conducted by NATO in Libya in 2011 or Serbia in 1999, said Suzan Rice, United States National Security Adviser.
She emphasized that Washington did not plan to launch a full-on war on Syria, compared to the ones started by Bush administration in Afghanistan or Iraq, adding that this “would not be another war.” She underline that no ground forces would be deployed in Syria and that was final.
Rice reminded that the U.S. government insists on making limited military strikes on Syria in order to prevent potential use of chemical weapons by Damascus and undermine their capabilities of using toxic agents.
She warned that American missile strikes may target chemical weapon warehouses, means of delivery and production facilities.
The spokesperson highlighted that it’s not an intervention into the Syrian civil war with no end date, or an attempt to overthrow Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad.
