MANILA, (PNA) — Cebu Pacific Air on Monday cancelled its flights to and from Zamboanga City due to the ongoing conflict between government troops and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF)forces.
According to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Media Affairs Division (NAIA-MAD), Cebu Pacific Air started to call off its flights effective 9:30 a.m.
“Cebu Pacific had already advised that flights to and from Zamboanga are put on hold due to security situation,” the NAIA-MAD said.
It said that the next flight out of Cebu Pacific to Zamboanga City, flight 5J-857, which is expected to arrive at 11:15 a.m., is put on hold until the situation normalizes.
MNLF forces have been inching their way to Zamboanga City early Monday morning reportedly to ask for an independent republic after declared independence in August.
