MANILA, (PNA) — The investigation into the shooting incident in Balintang Channel last May 9 will start on Monday.
The Department of Justice panel of prosecutors will conduct the preliminary investigation at 2 p.m.
The members of the panel are Assistant State Prosecutors Juan Pedro Naverra, Alexander Suarez and Josie Christina Dugay.
The National Bureau of Investigation earlier recommended the filing of homicide charges against eight personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard who were on board a patrol ship during the bloody incident.
The eight PCG personnel allegedly conspired when they fired gunshots into two Taiwanese fishing boats resulting in the death of a Taiwanese fisherman.
Meanwhile, PCG spokesman Lt. Cmdr. Armand Balilo has confirmed the appearance during Monday’s hearing at the DOJ of the eight coast guard personnel involved in the incident.
