By Kevin Patrick V. Mariano

MANILA, (PNA)–The De La Salle University Green Archers launched a 14-3 avalanche late in the fourth quarter to shock the National University Bulldogs 57-55 in their Second Round Showdown and arranged a three way tie in first place with NU and FEU in the ongoing UAAP 76 Men’s Basketball Tournament on Sunday at the Mall Of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Jeron Teng exploded for 21 points to go along with seven rebounds while Jason Perkins notched a double double with 18 points and ten rebounds for the Taft based squad.

DLSU shot 20-of-60 (33 percent) from the field while NU finished with 23-of-69 (33 percent). The Bulldogs failed to win despite dominating the turnover points category, (12-4) and the fast break points battle (10-9).

Moreover, The Green Archers rolled to a six game winning streak with this win. They also improved their record to 9-4 along with the National University Bulldogs and the Far Eastern University Tamaraws.

Bobby Ray Parks led the Bulldogs with 19 points and 5 rebounds but he failed to send the game to Over Time after misfiring a potential game tying shot.

Coach Juno Sauler keeps their focus on their goal in spite of their six game winning run,”My aim is to keep on improving every ballgame and to come out with a better mindset, our main priority is not to go to the final four or to extend the streak but to go to the game with the same mindset.

With the three way tie in first place, only UST and ADMU are in the hunt of the final berth in the Final four. ADMU defeated UE via 77-72 victory that eliminated the latter in Final Four contention in the first game of Sunday’s Double Header.
