PAO asks government employees to keep rendering honest and dedicated public service

Posted on September 8, 2013

By Leilani S. Junio

MANILA, (PNA) — Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) chief Percida Rueda-Acosta is advising civil servants to keep on rendering public service with honesty and dedication.

PAO chief Acosta on Saturday joined civil servants in the celebration of the 113th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary at the Quirino Grandstand in Luneta, Manila.

In an interview with the Philippines News Agency, Acosta said that every government official and employee should always remain honorable and dedicated to the job of serving the nation.

“They should never forget to be honest while rendering public service. They should be contented with the kind of salaries and allowances that the government can afford to provide for them,” Acosta cited.

Acosta said civil servants should always stay honorable and fight temptations.

“They should always keep on mind that the very reason why they are here in the government is to serve the people or for purpose of “public service” and not for their “self-complacency”,” she pointed-out.

“They should just live a simple lifestyle and avoid the temptation of enjoying luxurious lifestyle by committing dishonesty or getting involved in corruption,” she added.

She stressed that the essence of public service is to avoid committing anything against the law that will taint the image of public service.

“Juan dela Cruz has a very big expectation to anyone in the government so public servants should never disappoint him and instead prove that even if there are some who were tempted to commit irregularities, majority are still striving to live up with Juan dela Cruz’ expectation despite of hardships,” she said.

She advised those who remain honest and dedicated to continue their good job and heroism in their own way which deserves salutation as good examples for the next generation of civil servants.
