MANILA, (PNA) — Most parts of the country including Metro Manila will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains in the next two-days due to low pressure area spotted in Visayas, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday.
Weather Forecaster Buddy Javier said that as of 4 p.m, the LPA embedded along the Intertropical Convergenze Zone (ITCZ) was spotted in the vicinity of Catarman, Northern Samar (12.5°N,124.5°E).
Citing the agency’s numerical models, Javier said the weather disturbance has small chance of intensifying into a cyclone.
But in case it becomes a tropical depression, she said it will be named “Odette” – the first cyclone to visit the country this month and the 15th for this year.
Until Tuesday, he said that Visayas as well as Central and Southern Luzon including Metro Manila will have cloudy skies with passing light to heavy rains because of the effects of the LPA.
Mindanao and Northern Luzon, on the other hand, he notedwill have mix weather from sunny to cloudy skies with occasional light to moderate rains because of the ITCZ.
In its advisory, PAGASA said that Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) and the provinces of Mindoro and Marinduque will experience cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms which may trigger flashfloods and landslides.
It added that Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms.
PAGASA also said that moderate to occasionally strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over extreme Northern Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to occasionally rough.
Light to moderate winds coming from the Northeast to North will prevail over the rest of Luzon and from the Southwest to South over the rest of the country with slight to moderate seas, it said.
