Bulacan transport group launches biofuel as fuel saver

Posted on September 8, 2013

MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan, (PNA) -— Hitting two birds with one stone.

The Panglalawigang Tansportasyon ng Bulacan (PTB) is not only encouraging jeepney and tricyle drivers to earn and save more money by using biofuel additive but also making a big contribution in the protection of environment.

PTB president Jun Pereda announced Saturday that their group, through its cooperative arm Trans-Go, has been authorized to be the marketing arm of Bionas Philippines (distributor of biofuel) for the National Capital Region, Region 3, Region 4A and Region 4B.

“Our drivers could save more if they use biofuel. Aside from this, the carbon emission of vehicles would also be lessened because biofuel is guaranteed clean as compared to products from fossil fuel,” Pereda said.

Dr. Sharif Adzhar H. Sarahadil, chairman and CEO of Bionas Philippines, said biofuel is an American technology now being used in may parts of the world.

He said it is not only cost efficient but environment friendly as well because biofuel is produced by different feedstocks like algae, rapeseed oil, camelina oil, jatropha seed, used cooking oil, rubber seed, cotton seed, swida seed and calophyllum inophyllum.

“It is actually a bio-energy emission solution,” Sarahadil said.

He said it can be used by gasoline and diesel engines, It is also being used to boost clean jet fuel.

Sarahadil also said that Bionas products has massive potential to address global issues with regards to sustainable renewable energy, water-energy linkages (fossil and water molecule bonding)and clean coal technology (calorific value enhancer).

Pereda and Sarahadil led the demo testing of biofuel at the Bulacan capitol grounds and at the Malolos City central terminal where a passenger jeepney and tricycle were loaded with biofuel.

“The engine ran silently and the thick smoke diminished,” said jeepney driver Ernesto Cumpis of Angat town.

“It seems that the problem with motor was removed and the smell of biofuel is good,” tricycle driver Joel dela Cruz said.

Pereda said their group will adopt the use of biofuel.

Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado commended the PTB for their initiatives, which he said, is both beneficial to passenger drivers and in the concerted efforts to address the effects of climate change.
