CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, (PNA)-– The National Food Authority (NFA)-Pampanga has reiterated that consumers need not panic as there is sufficient stocks of rice in the province.
“There is no rice shortage in Pampanga. We have enough rice and palay stocks in our warehouses,” NFA provincial manager Elvira Obaña said.
Obaña said NFA released a new variety of rice as measure to ensure of a steady supply during the duration of the lean season which began last July until September.
“We have more than 100,000 cavans of palay in our warehouses which is enough until harvest time next month up to October,” she told in an interview.
She said that the selling price of NFA regular milled rice remains the same even before the province was struck by calamities.
It was learned that NFA dispatched price monitoring team in major markets to ensure that the agency’s low-priced quality rice is continuously available in the midst of rising prices of commercial rice.
The NFA monitoring team had noted an increase of the average P29 to P35 per kilo price of regular-milled rice and well-milled rice, respectively in the commercial markets.
