Typhoon-affected gov’t employees may still apply for calamity loan until end of month — GSIS

Posted on September 8, 2013

MANILA, (PNA) -— Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) General Manager Roberto Vergara reminded government employees that application for GSIS calamity loan for those affected by typhoon Maring is still accepted until the end of the month.

GSIS Gen. Manager Vergara made the reminder as he joined Saturday other key government agency leaders in celebrating the opening ceremony of the 113th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary marked by a fun run among 15,000 civil servants at the Quirino Grandstand, Luneta, Manila.

Vergara said that he was happy to see that many government employees are participating in the event every year which promotes the spirit of fun, good health, good governance and social consciousness.

“Government employees affected by typhoon ‘Maring’ residing in areas declared under the state of calamity by National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) can still take advantage of the offer at the end of the month,” Vergara said in an interview with the Philippines News Agency.

According to Vergara, qualified applicants may file the calamity loan through the GSIS office or their designated kiosk.

To be qualified, he said the government employees must have no existing loan filed as of last year and must be of good standing or not under suspension.

Vergara said they will look into the possibility of extending the deadline if there will be more applications to fully accommodate those applying for the loan.

Aside from the calamity loan, he said GSIS also launched the “Remedial Restructuring Program” for its housing borrowers.

“For this program we will be accepting applications until Dec. 31 of this year. Interested applicants should call for appointment so that when they come to the office their account will be ready for assessment to arrive at the best possible option to make them current,” GSIS chief said.
