ANKARA, (PNA/Xinhua) — Turkey has installed a decontaminating apparatus on southern Akcakale border crossing, due to alert following alleged chemical weapon attacks in Syria, semi-official Anadolu Agency reported on Friday.
Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (AFAD) deployed the disinfection units near the Syrian border for the disinfection of people and vehicles.
“We haven’t detected any chemicals so far on the people and vehicles crossing in and out of the border,” AFAD official Taner Eltutan was quoted as saying.
Turkish government has installed another decontaminating apparatus in southern Kilis town near the Syrian border, said the report.
About 400 AFAD chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) specialists were dispatched earlier to Turkey’s southern and southeastern provinces of Hatay, Kilis and Sanliurfa as a measure to contain any chemical attack from Syria.
