MANILA, (PNA) — The Office of the Vice President (OVP) handed out 95,938 bags of relief goods to victims of typhoons that hit the country in August.
In a news release, the OVP noted aside from the relief goods, boxes of bananas and sacks of rice have also been distributed to families in some areas while typhoons Labuyo and Maring hit various provinces in Luzon.
Vice President Jejomar Binay also personally led his office’s rescue operations.
He visited evacuation camps and handed out relief bags to the victims while meeting with local government leaders in the affected provinces in order to assess the extent of damage caused by the typhoons and amount of assistance needed.
Binay was able to visit the provinces of Zambales, Isabela, Rizal, Laguna, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Bulacan, Cavite, and Aurora during the wake of the typhoons.
He also instructed the distribution of relief goods to flooded areas in Metro Manila area, and the provinces of Pangasinan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Zambales, Pampanga, Bulacan, Bataan, Tarlac, Aurora, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal.
