MANILA, Sept. 5 (PNA) — An official of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) encourages Filipino scientists to be more ‘creative’.
Dr. George M. Colarado said in a recent statement that the purpose of technology and innovations is to solve problems.
“A simple change in materials cannot be considered as an innovation,” he stressed.
“It should undergo natural development processes that can only be done if the technology is being tested by the public,” he added.
Colorado encourages scientists to observe products and technology in the market before making their own inventions.
He also added that scientists must first learn to study the different aspects of their inventions that need improvement.
The official mentioned that it is also important to get the opinion of the possible users of the technology.
“Ask your target clients what they want and then you have a set of priorities that you can now integrate into the product,” he stressed.
He also encourages scientist to continue to broaden their knowledge in the chosen fields.
“The fastest way to learn is to go to an expert and learn from him,” he stressed.
