MANILA, (PNA) — Two newly-constructed bridge projects worth P8.1-million were recently turned-over to Brgy. Adlay, Carrascal, Surigao del Sur from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).
According to the DAR, these bridge projects were turned over to boost the economic lives of the agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in the said community.
Regional Director Faisar Mambuay said the infrastructure projects would give the farmer-beneficiaries better access to transport their agricultural products to sell in the market as well as their neighboring barangays.
“The bridge projects, implemented under the Agrarian Reform Infrastructure Support Project –Phase III ( ARISP-III), is expected to spur economic activities in Brgy. Adlay and its neighboring barangays,” Mambuay said.
“Better access to various markets will inspire our farmers to produce more,” he added
The provision of support services in the form of basic rural infrastructures, credit assistance and livelihood trainings, among others, Mambuay explained, is one of the major components of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP), the other being the land tenure improvement.
Meanwhile, Carrascal Vice Mayor Alfred Arreza said the infrastructure project is significant in achieving progress in rural communities.
“It is not only implemented to make life easier for his constituents but also to sustain the development of their communities,” Arreza said.
