MANILA, (PNA) — Resigned National Bureau of Investigation Director Nonnatus Caesar R. Rojas emotionally faced members of the media on Friday.
Rojas returned to his office at the NBI to arrange his personal belongings.
According to Rojas, he also talked with President Benigno S. Aquino III but he has stood pat on his decision to resign as NBI chief.
He said his decision was hard for him, but it was final and he did not do it as a “drama” or for anything else.
On his return at the NBI, Rojas also conversed with all the deputy directors of the agency and they also understood his decision.
Rojas also thanked the employees, agents and investigators of the NBI for the opportunity to work with them.
He said he saw how the NBI rank-and-file worked deligently up to the extent of lacking sleep when there were big cases to be investigated.
The former NBI chief believes the good service of the NBI to the public will continue whoever will be the next NBI director.
As far as he is concerned, Rojas said the NBI has proven that it is an institution which can be relied on by the public.
He added he also believes the image of the NBI will be restored as the country’s premier investigative agency.
