MANILA, (PNA) — The U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines read to more than 30 students on Friday about the Mabaw reef, a marine protected area in Bohol.
Ambassador Harry Thomas Jr. and Gloria Steele, Mission Director of the U.S. Embassy Manila’s Agency for Interbation Development (USAID), sat down with students of Taloto Elementary School for the reading session.
“The preservation of the Philippines’ natural resources is important as we continue our work towards achieving our mutual goal of broad-based and inclusive growth,” the ambassador said in a statement.
“The best way to ensure the success of our initiatives is to educate the younger generation about their responsibility to the environment as they will soon be the caretakers of the country’s rich resources,” he added.
After the reading session, students were surprised to see three mascots representing fish species of Bohol.
