MANILA, (PNA) — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is expecting to finish the printing of the more than 52 million ballots in a month as the printing has commenced Wednesday.
“Ang sinasabi nating rate 1.7 to 2 million a day so we hope to finish the printing in 28 days or thereabouts,” said Comelec Commissioner Luie Guia, who is in charge of the printing of the ballots and other election forms.
He reported that they are looking to print some 2.2 to 2.5 million ballots as of Friday.
“As of this morning, mga 1.5 million ballots already have been printed. Siguro by today (September 6) we would have completed 2.2 to 2.5 million ballots and that is just starting Wednesday evening up to today,” the poll body official added.
However, he noted that they are only printing ballots for the barangay polls since there are plans to postpone the youth polls.
Guia explained that they can wait until the end of the month to print the SK ballots, which is 3.1 million to 3.2 million.
“Pwede namin siguro hintayin up to the end of the month,” he added.
On the other hand, Commissioner Grace Padaca said they want to know as soon as possible if the SK polls will push or not since they are now preparing for the October polls.
“Sana ‘yung decision to postpone ‘yung SK elections or not should come in the soonest time,” she said.
