MANILA, (PNA) — “From tambay to TESDA Specialista,”
This is what Dir. Gen. Joel Villanueva said as 600 technical vocational (techvoc) students graduated on Thursday at SM Bacoor under their Cash for Training Program.
The Technical Vocational and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) collaborated with the Department of Social Welfare and Development Authority (DSWD) for this program.
According to Villanueva, graduates get to choose whether they will be wage-employed or self-employed.
“There are two tracks on this program, one is through working [wage-employment] where after their training program, we will help them find a job, thus, the job fair this morning,” he said.
“The other part is through business [self-employment] where we will give them entrepreneurship program for about 7 to 10 days that will tackle different facets of their business and proper handling money,” he added.
Villanueva said that self-employed graduates also received starter kits from the agency.
He also stressed that the entrepreneurship program was funded for P20, 000 each for out of school youths.
He said that there are 70 companies who attended the job fair and were willing to hire TESDA Specialistas.
