MANILA, (PNA) — Justice Secretary Leila M. De Lima will temporarily act as the head of the National Bureau of Investigation.
According to De Lima, she will temporarily head the NBI for as long there’s no replacement yet for resigned NBI Director Nonnatus Caesar R. Rojas.
De Lima said she will immediately designate an officer-in-charge of the NBI from the ranks of either the Department of Justice or the NBI either Thursday or Friday.
This was the action taken by De Lima after she failed to convince Rojas to forego his irrevocable resignation.
Meanwhile, NBI Deputy Director for Intelligence Reynaldo Esmeralda held a meeting with De Lima Thursday and it will be the turn of NBI Assistant Director Medardo De Lemos to meet with De Lima Friday.
De Lima said the NBI deputy directors are meeting with her one by one.
Deputy Director Edmundo Arugay earlier tendered his courtesy resignation to President Benigno S. Aquino III.
