Kadayawan Age-Group chess tournament in Davao set Sept. 7-8

DAVAO CITY, (PNA) – All is set now in the Mayor Rody and Vice Mayor Pulong Duterte Kadayawan Chess Age-Group Tournament slated on Sept. 7 and 8 at the 2nd floor of the NCCC Mall Davao heer.

The categories are 10 years old and below, 14 years and below and 20 years old and below.

“This is also part of our grassroots development program,” said tournament organizer FA James Infiesto, regional director and youth training coordinator of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP).

Infiesto, also chief arbiter in the recent Gov. Lala Talino-Mendoza 3rd Mindanao Chess Open tournament in Amas, Kidapawan City, said registration fee is only P25.

The Kadayawan Chess is being sponsored by the city government thru the City Sports Development Office under OIC Butch Ramirez.

Cash prizes, trophies and medals await winners.

The top three finishers in the 10 and below will get P300, P200 and P150 with medals in that order. The champion in the 14 and below will pocket P500 with a medal while the second and third will get P350 and P250 with medals, respectively.

In the 20 and below, the top three winners will earn P750, P500 and P300 with medals in that order.

“A trophy will be awarded to the school champion to be determined by the total score of the top three players from boys and girls divisions,” Infiesto said.
